Hello, I am Vanessa, frequently known as Ness. I am a Children's Book Illustrator based in Brighton. My love for  illustration has been present since childhood, particularly drawing people and animals. Observing and creating narratives and getting stuck into my daydreams and ideas comes as second nature to me. Since graduating from Falmouth University with a BA in Illustration, I have worked in-house as a designer & editor for greetings card companies including Poet & Painter and Louise Mulgrew. Having also qualified with an NVQ in childcare, I have a great understanding of the importance and education of young children. This has enchanced my belief that storybooks are a vital part of nurturing young minds and creating awareness about the world. For me, my focus in children's books aims to gently narrate challenging themes for children.
